Too busy to post

One of the hardest things to do is get back into work mode after taking a week or more off from the job.

As you can see, my blog is going through some changes. I wont make any promises when it will happen, but sooner than later codemonkey should be looking better. The old template I was using had to go.

Enchilada Day was great (sorry, I don't eat turkey), you can read all about it on tiny clanger's blog.

Friday Niki and I lucked out and managed to sneak into Old I to see Knock Knock, so we felt no obligation to stay around and see the next two bands. We were in and out of there in 1.5 hours. All I can say is that (Knock)^2 is one of the best bands, local or otherwise. It was great to see the large turn out, and I'm glad they got paid, even though I didn't contribute to the fund (but I did contribute to the fun).

Saturday was the Daisy Spot/Naners show. I haven't seen Daisy spot in years, so it was nice to finally be able to make it out to see them. I think DS is a great band, but they need to weed out some of the sillier songs and shorten their set a bit. I had to go outside about midway through, mainly because I had to pee like a racehorse, but also because I was becoming worn down. Bananas rocked, and it was probably one of their better shows in a while.

Afterparty consisted mainly of one round of "bump-it or dump-it", Listening to rare Orange Juice 7"s and feeling woozy from too much weird tasting brews.

here is a link to all the contestants via Amy pee.

OKay. I have to work now...SHEESH!!!

LA(me?)

The only thing really lame about LA is the traffic. Other than that, it's very nice.

The weather was great (low 80s).

A lot of good places to munch (one in particular).

Family.

The Beach.

Kids on the street....kids on the beat...

My two favorite new shows on TV right now are Wonder Showzen and the Colbert Report.

MTV always tries to screw with me by making W.S. start 15 minutes late, thus messing up my Tivo settings (yes, I'm on that bandwagon now). Anyhow, I'll definitely get it as soon as it comes out on DVD. That way I can try to convert friends and family into fans the same way I do with Curb.

Steven Colbert: The man is a damn genius, and his show is almost as twisted as Wonder Showzen (and is on every weekday, on time no less). "George Bush: Great president, or the greatest president?"

My job bought me a brand new laptop. I feel important now.

Discover this!

This weekend I went to Discovery park for the first time (other than passing through while traveling from my old house in DPH to downtown via the bike path). First off, don't drive there. It costs 4 bucks to park. The park has so much potential, but that cost alone cancels all my plans for holding any sort of future event there. Obviously I'm not the only one who thinks that way, since me, Niki, Heylove and a work-project cleanup crew were the only ones out there on such a nice Sunday afternoon. Oh..there were some crack-rock bags hanging out there as well. It's so huge and open, which makes it a shame.

Fat Tub of Goo

So I annually renewed my gym membership over the weekend. It was 99 bucks for a a whole year, which sounds like a great deal, but I only went like 5 times. That works out to be around 20 dollars per visit to the gym. Not such a hot deal after all!

So these are the kinds of things you start to think about once you hit 30. Heart disease and just about every other bad ailment runs in my family, so it's a matter of life and death when it comes to exercise for me. My high-fiber vegetarian lifestyle means nothing if I sit around being a couch potato all weekend long after my long week of sitting behind a desk at work. I'll still keel over in my 50s from a heart attack if I keep going down that route.

20051103

So a lot of you might think I'm silly for promoting these kind of things, but hey, they actually work. Just this Morning I got a reply about my letter concerning the broadcasting flag from U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein! (from her office, anyway)

Anyhow, this is also the type of mass-email tactic the conservative "right" uses to cause the FCC to go on witch hunts after national crisis(es), such as Janet Jackson's boob popping out on national television, so yeah pounding someone with the same email over and over again is pretty much the only way to get your voice heard around here, and it really doesn't take that much effort on your part to do it.

So without further adieu:

Dear Friend,

George Bush needs to lay out the facts about Iraq and his strategy to achieve military, political and economic success to bring our troops home. He needs to know this failure of leadership cannot continue.

Join me and tell George Bush: You can no longer mislead Congress and the American people. It's time for an Iraq success strategy that will bring our troops home. Join me by visiting:

I signed and you should too.

Thanks!
