please keep checking this website to see if i'm talking mad trash about you
so maya and i decided to commute to work this morning via public transportation to see how well the system works. we seemed to get to our destinations without too much of a problem, but i cannot say the system was flawless.
first of all, if i hadn't stood out in the middle of J street and flailed my arms around like a madman, the bus would have just kept on going, and we would of had to walk back to my place and just drive (and probably never try to use the bus ever again). luckily the driver stopped.
secondly, the bus driver didn't even seem to know what the fare was, or where he was supposed to be going. thank god maya was there to set things straight (otherwise who knows where i would have wound up). i don't think roseville public transportation is used to actually picking up people (since everybody in roseville would much rather drive their H2 to and from work each day). the driver also "forgot" (or was too lazy) to grab bus transfer tickets and had to inform the driver of our connecting bus that we'd be waiting for him.
eventually we got to work, and the commute didn't take too long, but it just seems the people in charge of promoting public transportation in roseville aren't doing a very good job. i think if the public were made more aware of the programs being offered (and the bus employees were equally informed) more people would give it a try, and the drivers wouldn't be thrown in such a tail spin when they actually had to pick up commuters.
unless i'm weird, i don't think i'm the only one in this world who doesn't enjoy driving to and from roseville everyday in traffic on the freeway. i would much rather kick back and read a book on my way to work and not put wear and tear on my car, but that's just me, i guess.
wish me luck on my adventure getting home!
