SWWEEEET

My tonevendor order just arrived:

New Pia Fraus! (the only modern shoegaze/pop band I like)
New Rocketship (yes, you heard me right)
The Life Pursuit (on vinyl)

Update: The new Rocketship is a "track skipper" upon first listen. Yeah it kinda blows so far.

The new Pia Fraus is at least listenable all the way through, but seems to be missing some of the pop elements I was expecting and is way heavy on the shoegaze side of things (opposite of their older material)

Is the Rocketship just kinda boring? Or different? I should thank you for giving props to the Life Pursuit because I was skeptical but it made me go & get it & it really does rule. I love it. Good ol' B&S. I put my favorite Spider & The Webs/Tobi Celeste songs in a slsk file called Leeeon - you should check it out if you don't mind a one-way ticket to back in the day!

The Rocketship CD is more weird than boring...some songs remind me of crazy electronic Japanese pop from the 90's and some songs sounds like 2nd rate MBV ("Isn't Anything" era). His vocals are kinda dry sounding. I need to give it a couple more spins before the verdict is in (bump-it-or-dump-it).

And...I'm excited to see B&S next week. You'll have to let me know how Art Brut is live. Some of that band's songs rule, some are just too silly for me to handle (like "I'm considering a move to LA"). The dude kinda reminds me of Jilted John.

Furthermore...I'll download that stuff from ya tonight! Thanks.
