Sacramento Pride

Almost everyone in Sacramento has a certain sense of town-pride, mainly because our town gets shit on by everyone else who overlooks the pluses of living here. So with that in mind, you can see how stoked I was to see Sacramento get a shout-out on boingboing today (one of my favorite time-wasters and sources of "useful" info).

Chronic (what!!!) Cles of Narnia!!!!

Have you heard of this new SNL rap video thing? I'm forwarding it to all my co-workers along with this really funny clip of a computer animated dancing baby I found on the net. "Mr Pib + Red Vines = crazy delicious"... White people + rapping = wild and crazy funny, but I still say it's a total rip of "Lord of the Rhymes".

I heard there is a west coast response to the Chronic Cles.... I feel sef-conscious watching movies at work, so I'm gonna link it here for future reference. Way to drive a good joke into the ground guys. Since you are reprazentin' tha west side, their better be some G-Funk up in here.

For now, check out the Young Chuck Norris Video...

Special K

This cringe-worthy clip should make it to "The Soup". If it doesn't, I'll be really disappointed.

I'm not dying, just out of shape

I really need to push myself when it comes to staying in shape. Between my daily commute, desk-job, catching up on TiVo, love of food, video gaming, snacking and being "big boned", I can hardly find time to be active without setting some kind of goal for myself. Last time I got in shape, my goal was to run in a marathon (relay for only 6 miles, which is a lot for me), which I did (and even played a Frenchmen show in SF that night). This time I decided I'm going to hike up to the top of Half-Dome at the end of May. Hopefully this will put me in the mind frame of "you better get in shape, or you're not gonna make it!".

Shit. I gotta go to the gym tonight.

Unpredictable

I'm listening to the new Jamie Foxx album today. I'm only on the second song, so I'll have a verdict later on today. I like the title track a lot, so hopefully the rest of the album is as good.

Back to the books

I just finished my 30+ hour audiobook of "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin, which I started almost a month and a half ago (originally for my road trip down to LA). I was re-reading it (more or less) since his newest book just came out last November, and I wanted to refresh myself with characters and such, since it had been a while between the new book and the time I originally read the first three books, and I had forgotten some character names. I picked up on a lot of details missed the first time around (since I kind of knew what was going to happen next). I'm going to get down and dirty with the next two books and try to re-read them at breakneck speed. Why I bought the newest book right away, I'll never know.

If you haven't read the "Song of Fire and Ice" series by George R.R. Martin, and you consider yourself a LoTR fan, I highly suggest reading these books. It's no facsimile by any means, but for me, it almost reads as a post "Lord of the Rings" story, only written better.

Roseville

The greater part of this past Saturday was spent in Roseville.

First off: breakfast at Thunder Valley

All you can eat omelets!! and by "all you can eat" I mean "one". The thing took up half my plate (mental note...next time bring own bottle of pico pica sauce). I tried doing myself a favor and also went for the all-you–can-eat raisin bran (to get the train a movin'), but I'm so used to drinking soy milk, and they didn't have any, so I figured the lactose acted as a road-block, causing my train to come to grinding halt. The all-you-can-eat cream-o-wheat was too soupy so I stayed clear. The hash browns were a bit over-oniony. After washing everything down with the all-you-can-drink coffee and orange juice, I decided to hit the slots. After blowing 10 bucks in less than five minutes on video poker, it was time to call it a day...until I stumbled upon an actual poker table that only had one other person sitting at it. It was 4 card poker, which I guess is also called "Caribbean Poker". After losing another 40 dollars, I won 50 dollars and it was time to quit while I was even.

Everyone else was ready to go, but the day was still young, and since we drove all the way out to Roseville, and the weather was nice, might as well go to Denios! I wound up leaving with some records, a leaf rake (for 3 dollars mang!), a beani ($2!) and a beer. I saw this cool knitted hat, but it's not really my style:

and this cool shirt, which wasn't my style either:

man...I need to clean the lens on my camera.

I decided I need to go back to Denios soon and stock up on a lot of other cheap shit I saw there.

Broken(?) audio receiver

The other day I went to listen to a new 7" on my record player, but as soon as I hit "power" on my reciever and it was about to play the jams, I heard a small *pop* then it (the receiver) turned off. Press power...repeat...

Has this happened to anyone else out there?

C'mon! I only fix people's computers, so I don't know much about stereo equipment. I need help. HELP!!!!
