Why do I do this to myself, and why am I having Deja vu right now?

Every time, without fail, after eating Indian food for lunch, all I can think about the rest of the day is going home and sleeping, but the Paneer Tikka Masala I had was worth it.

From Niki's Super Secret Blog:

If Sacramento could talk it would say: "Seriously guys, don't act all surprised or anything. It's July and in this town it gets hot. So I would appreciate it if you would just lay off the whole cursing the weather thing because I can't do a damn thing about it with out my flaky friend The Delta Breeze. Dude! Where has she been? She left a few days ago to go get a pack of smokes and she doesn't come back? WTF?"

Cheap, fun and relaxing way to beat the heat

GO CAMPING (if you don't mind a couple mosquito bites)!!!

This weekend Niki, Heylove and I drove for miles and miles off of highway 4 (which is an amazing and treacherous drive) to upper and Lower Highlands Lakes. The inner mountain man in me (I was born in the mountains after all) needed to get away from sunny, loud and smelly Sacramento.

The campsite area was nice, cool and relaxing. There was still snow around the campsite, yet it was warm enough to wear shorts and flip-flops during the day, and cool enough to wear hoodies and play guitars around the campfire at night. The Bumpuses and all their little (yet well behaved) rascals took over half of the campsite, which was the only drawback, but they kept their space and were actually a lot more courteous than I initially gave them credit for, though it would have been nice to have a little more space.

There was a crazy hiking trail that followed a creek and went down into this valley, but Niki wasn't up for the adventure (I think she was scared of Heylove getting eaten by bears). Maybe sometime I'll go back with all my hiking friends and give it a go...oh wait...none of my friends like to hike. Goddamn "city" slickers.

I burned myself 3 times: Once while grabbing a hot pot from the stove, I burnt a hole in my thumb from a match-head breaking off while being lit, and I seared some hair off my arm while turning a log in the camp-fire.

The drive home was nice, but seemed like it took forever.

This is a reposting from Niki's ultra-secret blog (as secret as any blog on the world wide web can be)....WARNING!!!!! GRAPHIC IMAGES BELOW!!!

Cats vs. The Mice

We've had a couple of mice sightings in the house lately.

The scene of the crime. I came home at 1PM to find this: A kitchen tile completely removed, mouse blood, some ambiguous mouse innard and more mouse blood.

Cats investigates. She turned to me and said "who could have possibly left this mess for mommy to clean up?"

The ambiguous innard. An intestiny thing? A bladdery thing?

The signs of struggle. Is the mouse still in there?

6PM: Finally, a body. This wasn't there at 1PM.

O' the humanity. The mouse that scurried to heaven.

So small, so quiet.

Who is the culprit? Is it this Cats?

Or is it this Cats?

Posting now before I ferget:

Crasharama this weekend

Crasharama is scheduled for July 16 out at the Roseville Fairgrounds. Now all official, but that's the only way to keep the fuzz off Johnny's back.

It will be part of a big vintage car (rat rod type) show that starts at 10AM. Crashes start at noon or 2 and go til 6... There will also be bands (SLA, losin streaks, Nagg, maybe another..) playing in between crashes. It's all ages and I hear it's $9 to get in.

It'll be dirty, dusty, hot, loud, and probably stinky. There's a website, but it's pretty crappy...

Anyway, hope it'll be fun....

On FIRE!

Sorry. I'm not whining/praising today like normal...just stating the facts for historic preservation...and I haven't had any decent coffee today.

Here are more pics from Frenchmen Day (which was July 6 2005)
(link)

What a good show. Every once and a while I think the Frenchmen should just be done with it, but we have too much goddamn fun. 10 years from now we'll be peforming the same 12-songs-in-20-minutes set at Cache Creek Indian Gaming Casino, and even though He'll have to drag an oxygen tank around with him, and be using a Rascal to get from point A to B, we'll make Scott join in with "Frantic Romantic".

Bunnygrunt was St. Louis's answer to the Frenchmen. They rocked the spot, despite my skepticism. I think I even saw Rick Ele rockin' out to them. Who knew he liked songs with melody!?!?!

Gregory Webster was amazing, playing all the Sportique/Razorcuts hits.

Friday we went down to SF to see Gregory play again (this time without Amy) at the 3rd (or 4th) biannual popfest. I just wasn't feeling it this year, but the venue itself was pretty cool. The Frenchmen got shout outs (and recognition) and I ran into some old friends form past popfests, but still, I wanted to get the hell out of there for some reason.

Since I didn't have a place to stay that night in the City, we headed back. Much thanks to my accompanying passengers for helping me stay awake.

Next night there was a show in Davis. I didn't care much for the not not fun artists playing, but I had a good time hanging out none-the-less. I was supposed to make it to the RTL/KM show afterwards, but the many "free" beers I drank in Davis had already taken their toll and all I wanted to do was go home and sleep.

Sunday we went to Mark and Dani's to meet the new baby (and have a bbq).

I want to go camping.

Show 2-nite

Somehow The Frenchmen are playing a show with the legendary Gregory Webster (who will be playing Razorcuts and Sportique hits) at the Distillery tonight with Bunnygrunt (from St. Louis)

I know I know...a week night (weak dude)...but it's a holiday week night so take tomorrow off so you can join in at the after party...if there is one!
