Berlin


Not much to report just yet. Yesterday I finally got over my jet lag, and starting tomorrow I get to have fun the rest of my time here (not that working isn't fun).

There was a gala event for the conference last night where we had to get all dressed up and mingle with VIP customers, but thank goodness my HP Deutschman are like me, and decided to say "fuck it" and just head into town and get bier and food instead.

Deutschman are heckacool. All the ones I have been kickin' it with have a good sense of humor, are very sincere and are right to the point (which can be interpreted as rude by some).

I probably wont post again until I get back in the states. My hotel has wifi, but I have to pay for it, and it's a lot. I'll have some good pics and stories by when I get back, I'm sure.

I'll be in Berlin all next week. Maybe I'll post once or twice while I'm there...or not. I have to wear "smart causal" attire (whatever the heck that means).

The Friday after I get back (5/5) I'll be playing bass with Baby Grand at Old I. We made some major breakthroughs at practice last night, so some of the songs we played last time might sound better this time around.

New Monitor



After bitchin' and moaning to my boss about the behemoth CRT monitor I've had for the past four+ years, I finally got a bitchin' 19" flat panel! Fuck yeah!...Now my eyes need to adjust to the clarity..it's a bit overwhelming.

Right now I'm finally listening to this EP/Single by the Pipettes. I guess they are a pretty new band from London going for that Dolly Mixture/Talulah Gosh thang. They even wear matching polka dot dresses and look all 60's.

Team Lunch



Speaking of bosses. We were supposed to meet for a sponsored team lunch at 11:30, but the boss's boss has him cornered in the boss's cube. I kinda want to save him, but I don't want to piss off boss boss.

Back from Big Sur



Big Sur is definitely the nicest coastal getaway I've gone to...ever. Why hadn't I gone before? There are some camp grounds I want to look into when I go back this summer (hopefully).

We stayed in these neat little cabins. I brought my laptop, and we watched movies during the evening. Since all [four of] the restaurants around where we stayed, (good or crappy), were expensive, I will make sure I get a cabin with a kitchen next time.

Thursday is kind of a "throw-away" day for me at work. I have meetings every other hour all day long, so I can't really get anything done...

Just thought I'd let you know.

Thursdays are also my "go out to lunch" day.. So maybe I'll have a restaurant review up later on.

Scared Shitless



So for some reason my boss(es) think I should teach some classes. Me? Introverted, quiet ol' me (when I'm outside of my comfort zone and not drunk)? The fate of people's knowledge will rely on my ability to convey information. I'm having a panic attack just thinking about it.

Ah...what the fuck.. it'll be good for me.

It shouldn't be any different than playing a guitar and singing in front of people right?....well I won't have my wall of (rat pedal feed-back, reverb and flashy guitar) sound to hide behind, and I can't fake the lyrics by singing at a volume below all the chaos around me, but I do like talking about technical stuff, so it's all good (as long as I don't stare at my shoes or the set-list the whole time). Maybe I should make a martini beforehand.

Ok, some of you will disown me after I say this, but on of my favorite songs of all time is "Box of Rain" by the Grateful Dead....

My liking of this song was triggered after seeing the last episode of Freaks n' Geeks, so I a m kind of a poser (I did try to sell fake brownies at a Dead parking lot event by Cal Expo when I was 19...sadly, no one fell for it). But dang, the song brings me back to High School days, being crushed out on spacy hippy girls with hairy legs.
