8 mile
staring Marshal Mathers as MC DJ Bunny Rabbit
movie rating **** out of 4 stars
Warning! Spoilers ahead!
One word can sum up Marshal Mathers's (eminem) debut movie performance in this summer's blockbuster "8 Mile": amazing. Mathers plays the controversial role of MC DJ Bunny Rabbit, a poor white homosexual boy trying to make in the black heterosexual man's world of Rap Music. Mathers character pulls on the heartstring of today’s youth as he battles many of the skeletons in his closet: violence, abuse, racism, homophobia as these subjects hit close to home for many of today’s youth.
The story of "8 mile" takes place in a British Columbian suburb where track and field runners reign supreme. MC DJ Bunny Rabbit’s girlfriend has left him for Todd, the popular track and field runner at their high school (played by Rupert Grint) and the only way Rabbit feels he can win her back is by coming in first place in the annual 8-mile triathlon tournament. Rabbit wallows in the misery of losing her until he finds love in the arms of a French exchange student across the street. Mathers's character sets off to avenge the deaths of his parents at the hands of kung-fu legend Master Pain. Along the way, he encounters some strange characters, one of which is a cow trained in the martial arts.
A must see for all..
