BLOODY GOOD DRINK OF THE MONTH

so right now i'm on the quest for a kick ass bloody mary in sacramento. so far i found that some dude at Round Corder (23rd and S st) makes a good one, some place in the Bernal Heights area of SF makes and even better one, but everywhere else i've tried makes them LOUSY!

actually, my true goal is to be able to make bloody marys just as fantastic as my blended margaritas. if anyone knows a good recipe or good brand of mix, please let me know!

TALKIN' ALL THAT JAZZ

last weekend i was hangin' out with my boy dj shadow, diggin' for beats at some swap meet somewhere and i came across this amazing record:

sacramento high school jazz band class of 1977

in mint sealed condition. i bought it cuz it seemed like a funny thing to have and plus it cost only 50 cents. the front cover is a black and white photo of sac high, with the jazz band superimposed up in the trees. i didn't really get around to listening to it until last night when i finally busted it out. holly smokes! the first track i played was a cover of the getz/gilberto classic "girl from ipanema" 100% funk-a-fied. other songs were classics like herbie hancock's "chameleon". the rhythm section was superb, and the horn section sounded like what you would expect from a high school jazz band.
